On the last day of half-term, Friday 15th February, 23 students and 3 teachers flew to Berlin. We stayed 5 days and 4 nights in a youth hotel near Alexander Platz. It was really cold and we had to wrap up warm but there was no snow.

During our time there we visited many interesting and important attractions and we even had an opportunity to go to a real German school and sit in on some lessons and take part. We also had a guided tour of the school. The staff and students made us feel extremely welcome and in particular Bernd Noack who organised the whole thing. Thank you. After the lessons we went bowling with some of the students. Our encounter with the school was all part of the Anglo German Connection Programme which awarded us a small grant for the trip.

Some of the attractions we visited, Fernsehturm (the television tower), Reichstag (the Parliament Building), Check Point Charlie, the remains of the Berlin Wall, Berliner Dom, Pergamon Museum (wow), Berlin Zoo (aahh), Nikolaiviertel, Brandenburg Gate, Alexander Platz and Potsdamer Platz, where we saw a film with some of the German students at the IMAX cinema. We also saw lots of Bears everywhere, a symbol of Berlin.

Our last evening ended with a Quiz night and the team “Krishopigeerathenat” were the winners. No trip would be complete without the obligatory shopping spree so just before we returned to London we spent a couple of hours at one of the great shopping centres near our hotel. Here our some pictures of the trip, ENJOY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
